Last surviving Simulator to be decommissioned (20/4/04)

The last surviving Concorde Simulator is to be decommissioned, Speedbirds.com has learned. The original Concorde Simulator at Filton, Bristol - which has been in service since 1976 - is to be decommissioned and is expected to be 'loaned' to one of the UK museums with an interest in Concorde - possibly Brooklands or The Bristol Aero Collection.

The simulator will be exhibited as a non-working display only, despite several attempts by organisations and entrepreneurs to keep it flying. It is thought that BA do not wish to risk any security breaches by allowing unregulated flying of the Simulator after 9/11, in case it leads to attempts to 'steal' any of the remaining intact Concordes.

In a strange coincidence, Speedbirds.com's Editor Martin Slade looks certain to be the last person ever to fly the much-celebrated Simulator.
