The inuagural direct transatlantic passenger service out of Bristol International Airport took place today, with CO076 arriving from New York Newark at 0845 approx. The much-awaited CO077 outward Newark service left a few minutes late at 1119 in front of hundreds of press, aviation fans, holidaymakers and dignitaries.

The takeoff itself was uneventful and soon the crowds were dissippating as storm clouds threatened to unleash a downpour.
